Also known as eyelid surgery. Experience a more youthful, refreshed appearance with eyelid surgery by Dr. Tarak Patel.

About the procedure

As we age, the delicate skin around our eyes can begin to sag and appear tired, making us look older than we feel. Dr. Patel offers a solution called blepharoplasty which can rejuvenate the appearance of the eyelids. This procedure involves carefully removing excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids, resulting in a more youthful, refreshed appearance. Dr. Patel will provide state-of-the-art procedures tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

Blepharoplasty, also known as an eye lift, is a cosmetic surgery performed for various reasons. Here are some of the most common reasons why someone might choose to undergo blepharoplasty:

Who is a candidate for blepharoplasty?

If you’re considering eyelid surgery, it’s essential to understand that your candidacy will depend on several factors. During your consultation, a thorough evaluation of your overall health and medical history will be conducted to determine if any conditions require additional discussion. Factors such as skin laxity, fat deposits, eyelid tone, position, and your cosmetic goals and expectations will also be examined to determine if eyelid surgery suits you. With Dr. Patel’s expertise and guidance, he can help you determine if eyelid surgery is the right choice to achieve your desired look.

What else can you tell me about the procedure?

The procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis. Depending on your specific needs and preferences, local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia may be used during your cosmetic eyelid surgery.

Excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids are removed and the eyelids are contoured appropriately. During the surgery, incisions are placed in such a way as to ensure that visible scarring is minimized. Dr. Patel makes expert incisions along natural creases or just below the eyelash line so any potential scarring is virtually invisible. Blepharoplasty can also be conducted in concert with other cosmetic procedures, which will be discussed thoroughly during the consultation process.

What should I know about taking care of myself after the procedure?

The recovery time for blepharoplasty is relatively short, with some swelling expected for a week or two after surgery. You will be walking around the next day and typically off pain medication within 2-3days. The results from this procedure typically last for years, giving patients more alert, well-rested, and younger-looking eyelids. With small incisions that heal quickly and minimal scarring, this procedure is a safe and effective way to rejuvenate your appearance
